diabetes type 2 check up

You should see their doctor every three months. During these visits, he can expect:
* We check the blood pressure
* We check the skin and bones in the feet and legs
* We will check the feeling in your feet
* We examine the back of the eye with a special lighted instrument called ophthalmoscope

The following tests will help you and your doctor will monitor your diabetes and prevent its complications:
* Getting your blood pressure checked at least every year (ideal blood pressure should be 130/80 mm / Hg or lower).
* Do check the glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) every 6 months if your diabetes is well controlled, otherwise every 3 months.
* Do check the levels of cholesterol and triglyceride annually (try to achieve cholesterol levels below 100 mg / dL).
* Have regular yearly checkups to check that your kidneys are working well (microalbuminuria and serum creatinine).
* Visit an ophthalmologist at least once a year or more frequently if you have signs of diabetic retinopathy.
* Visit the dentist every 6 months for a complete dental exam and cleaning, making sure that the dentist and hygienist know that you have diabetes.
