One of the biggest changes in diabetes is the food as you control both serving as a subject eat sometimes difficult for those who really like food. But nothing you can not achieve.
It’s about learning to control and accommodate the foods we like, to our condition.
When a nutritionist recommends a diet, or do you follow some book for diabetes, as not always explain exactly what you mean by the words “portion,” “Oz”, “cup”, “little.” Your duty is to ask, not because they are ashamed cooking terms that do not necessarily why you know them and that is where is the key to your portions are really what they should be.
Here are a few examples used to illustrate several nutritionists portions or equivalent to those that relate to use in real life, and you can help.
* A portion of fat resulting in 1 teaspoon oil or 1 strip of bacon
* One serving of candy may result in 1 small cookie, 1 donut simple or 1 tablespoon maple syrup (maple syrup in English)
* One serving of bread is 1 slice, no more
* A small potato is that you can fully grasp with one hand.
* Medium (like a tennis ball) or a half cup of fresh fruit (equal to the size of half a can of food)
* A chicken breast or a serving of 3-4 ounces of meat should be the size of a deck of cards
* A small tortilla should be the size of a CD
* A serving of rice, pasta or vegetable is equal to the size of your fist
* One serving of fruit is an orange or an apple-sized One ounce of avocado should be the size of a pencil again
* One serving of milk is one cup of skim milk or a cup of nonfat yogurt or unsweetened
* A serving of cheese equals one slice or a piece the size of a given
The ideal small portion is used when it comes out, since you can not control the exact portions, always asks the smaller portions of everything, including drinks or share with someone. If you’re at a family reunion and do not put up with the desire to repeat, choose a small plate, this will help you control the amounts and give you the feeling you’ve eaten enough.
When you visit your nutritionist, remember to ask me to explain your new diet in detail, including which portions are translated listed therein. The rest will be under your responsibility.
