It turned out to have the hunger signal levels, ranging from very hungry, hungry, until a little hungry. This all became the benchmark for controlling the excessive appetite. But if we are still difficult to distinguish hunger, do not worry, use the clock as a measure.

Health experts say, usually to an empty stomach 4 hours after the last time we ate. It means, we are permitted to eat food every 4 hours. This method is even safe to apply to the middle of our diet.

If we wait until the stomach was completely empty, we will be more motivated to eat all the food presented in front of the eyes, according to Pauline Dr. Endang, MS, SpGK, head of nutrition agencies Fatmawati RSU. Not only that, when the stomach was completely empty, we become selective in choosing foods.

Research in England also proved, the number of workers who still want to chew unhealthy snacks after lunch, tend to decrease. This compared with the number of workers who are motivated snack in the afternoon. “The eating every 4 hours to maintain stable blood sugar levels, while preventing the desire to eat too much,” said Kate Geagan, RD, a dietitian from the United States.

So from now on, every time hunger strike before the scheduled dinner arrives, prepare a healthy snack. Thus we can hold the hunger until dinner arrived. Select a handful of unsalted nuts and fruit platter.

Two types of food rich in fiber and water so that the stomach remains full with the number of calories that are not much. But remember, do not keep snack made of cheese or dried fruit on the desk drawer or in the bag. Make sure the snacks that we keep in the desk drawer is a kind of solid food.

People with diabetes are always increasing in number from year to year. Countries rarely have reduced the number of diabetes population. But Singapore did it and maybe it was exemplary Indonesia. What’s the secret?

According to experts, Prof. Slamet endrokinolog Surono, MD, people with diabetes in Indonesia increased 8-10 times every 25 year. People with diabetes in Indonesia until the year 2008 was 8.4 million. But in the year 2030, the WHO world health body estimates there are 21.3 million diabetics in Indonesia. Numbers greater than the number of HIV patients and also the entire population of Australia.

WHO also predicted that in the year 2025 Indonesia will become the 5th largest for diabetics after India, China, America and Pakistan. According to MOH data year 2008, the prevalence of diabetes in Indonesia is 5.7 percent, but only 1.5 percent are diagnosed.

North Sulawesi is a province with the largest number of diabetics in Indonesia, especially the city of Manado. “People there’s always a party, so his diet is less controlled and tend to excess,” said Prof. Slamet.

What makes the number of people with diabetes continue to rise? According to Prof. Slamet, lifestyle factors (excessive eating, lack of exercise, stress), derivatives and access to affordable treatment is not the cause of rise in blood sugar levels and lower insulin causes diabetes.

“Anyone can get diabetes, whether old, young, pretty or ugly. For that healthy lifestyles should really be noted. Treatment should also be routine, not as expensive and then quit, “said Slamet.

To overcome the problem of expensive drugs, through programs ‘Innovation for Life’, Sanofi Aventis pharmaceutical company in collaboration with Askes, Jamkesmas, and the doctors trying to provide health care and cheap but quality medicines.

But what does it treat the disease if numbers continue to grow? Therefore, prevention is much more important than treatment. In order to prevent affairs, Indonesia may have to follow the example of Singapore which successfully reduced the rate of diabetes in the country.

“The Singapore government makes regulations that encourage a healthy lifestyle for the community. Example for his military service that fat contract will be extended to 3 months or for children of school hours for lessons plus more sports and play, “said Dr Soewondo Pradana, chairman Perkeni (Endrocinology Indonesian Association).

The point is to make its rules a bit to force people to apply healthy living, since people often forget about the lack of discipline and health care. And because the state of Singapore has proven to do so, too should be able to Indonesia. “Maybe to Indonesia, could be by adding hours to its employees that fat,” said Pradana.

Having diabetes does not mean you can not eat sweets. Nor does it mean you can not eat sugar, but it is true that sugar intake is very restricted for diabetics because it is the type of carbohydrate that is absorbed faster and more raises the level of glucose in the blood, says voanoticias. com nutritionist Andrea Nebel, a member of the Uruguayan Society of Nutrition in Diabetes.

“It is not banning sugar by a diabetic can save in the case of hypoglycaemia. But it should be handled. Consumer is not free, “says nutritionist.

The same explains the American Diabetes Association: “Doctors used to recommend people with diabetes to avoid sugar. They thought that sugar consumption levels would cause the blood glucose level very fast. We know that all carbohydrates affect blood glucose levels in the blood almost to the same extent. ”

A potato and a brownie containing the same amount of carbohydrates, for example. “They cause roughly the same effect on the level of glucose in the blood. Of course, a potato has more vitamins than a brownie, so it is a better option “, according to the association.

However, for many diabetics are more desirable and easy to use sugar substitutes in foods and beverages. Sweeteners are a safe choice to sweeten foods, but there are several types and some nutritionists recommend some sooner than others.

First, there are reduced-calorie sweeteners: erythritol, hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol are some appointed by the American Diabetes Association.

Then there are the low-calorie sweeteners that are “free foods”, according to the association. “Sweeten foods, do not contribute calories and do not raise levels of blood glucose. Not counted as carbohydrates, fats or any other exchange. ”

Some types of low-calorie sweeteners and their brand names are:

- Acesulfame potassium (Sweet One, Swiss Sweet, Sunett)

- Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal)

- Saccharin (Sweet N Low and Sugar Twin)

- Sucralose (Splenda)

Nutritionist Andrea Nebel said that these sweeteners are approved by international health agencies but she recommends the use of natural sweeteners such as sucralose (Splenda), made from modified sugar cane.

But he warned that a diabetic should be careful when consuming a product that claims to be “diet” or “light” because there may be other components that alter their blood sugar. And that’s the real challenge of the patient.

“As a diabetic you have to find a diet product without added sugar. Some products claim to be ‘light’ because fat has decreased, but not mean they do not contain sugar. ”

What is your recommendation? That diabetics read the product labels. “A patient with diabetes should be taught to know the servings of each ingredient on the packaging. The distribution of sugars and carbohydrates. What is the origin of these sugars have. Under fat and sodium. ”

The key is eating a healthy diet. And the diabetic can not live only for products with low calorie sweeteners. “Some foods or sugar-free products that use low-calorie sweeteners actually have more calories and more fat than the versions that contain sugar,” according to the American Diabetes Association.

As Nebel, the association recommends that the patient “always check the Nutrition Facts label. If you compare the calories of sugar-free version with the normal version, check that it actually consume fewer calories. It is also useful to compare the fat content on labels. ”

And most important: that the diabetic control the daily intake of carbohydrates, including sugars, as part of a healthy eating plan it will give you the vitamins and minerals.

Diabetes is a disease that can be controlled perfectly. One of the ways is through a good diet to keep the level of blood glucose under control and assure us a better quality of life.

What we must keep in mind about food for diabetics? First, it must respect the four daily meals and portion control intake. With the main slogan that we should avoid sweets, we present the list of foods in the diet for diabetics.

    * Vegetables. Healthy food, nutritious and low in calories. If you follow an eating plan rich in vegetables, you’ll be consuming less carbohydrates (that raise blood sugar) and saturated fats (which increase insulin resistance). Try eating 4 or 5 servings of vegetables per day.

    * Fruits. As the plants are very healthy, low calorie but provide us with many essential nutrients for health, such as antioxidants. Consumption of 3-4 servings daily.

    * Beans. These high fiber foods will help you feel full longer, thus delaying the digestion. In addition, they prevent the blood sugar rises after meals. This effect was so powerful that it may even lower the amounts of glucose in the blood at a general level.

    * Cereals. They are also carriers of fibers, which are great for eating at breakfast time. They say that those with a good breakfast with fiber and one serving of fruit tend to eat less during the day.

    * Fish. Do not like fish? You’ll have to get used to it, it has very important health properties. It is a great source of protein and omega-3 acid, nutrients that help control diabetes. Eat fish at least two times a week.

    * Ave or poultry chicken breast (skinless) provides us with very few calories and, unlike red meat or hamburgers, which raise bad cholesterol levels and increases insulin resistance, make more effective control blood sugar.

    * Nuts. Did you know that this little food protects our hearts? They are also rich in antioxidants, vitamin E and fat? Good?, Allowing us to regulate glucose in the blood.

    * Olive oil. It has been shown that olive oil is also beneficial for the circulatory system because it reduces the risk of heart attack. It also helps control blood sugar.

    * Yogurt. Yogurt is a source of calcium and protein. In case you did not know, studies show that foods rich in calcium help you lose weight.

You can control the amount of carbohydrates you eat carbohydrate counting practice. This involves keeping track of the total number of grams of carbohydrates you need to eat at meals or snacks, depending on the medication and exercise. Generally, this method involves the use of a book to count carbohydrates, you can buy in a supermarket or bookstore.

People with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of heart problems, so most doctors make a recommendation to limit fat below 30% of total daily calorie intake – this tends to make eating less fat in general and stay away from saturated fat. You should also pay attention to cholesterol levels by eating smaller amounts of meat, and sticking to lean meats like chicken and fish.

It will take some time to adjust to its new diabetes diet and healthy lifestyle, especially if you have not followed the practices of healthy living in the past, but the results will be worth the effort. Not only will you be able to better manage their diabetes, but also you will become a much healthier person.

Despite a “miracle” diabetes diet does not exist to cure disease, if you have type 2 diabetes, there are rules you can follow the diet that ensures you stay as healthy as possible. When it comes to the end, proper nutrition is the only “diet” to follow. Many people have no experience with a healthy diet, but once you get into the swing of things, eating right will become part of your lifestyle.

To begin, it is best to follow the guidelines on nutrition in the food pyramid, with special attention to carbohydrate intake. Also, diabetics should maintain a regular eating schedule and control lots of exercise.

Starches are allowed on a diabetes diet, time control portions and avoid eating too much starch. Starches are present in the bread, cereal and starchy vegetables.

Eat five fruits and vegetables daily. This can be easily accomplished by eating a piece of fruit for a snack several times a day, or consumption of vegetables at dinner. The soups, stir-fries, and chili to make good hiding places for veggies if you need more intelligent ways to add good things in your food.

You can still eat sugar and sweets (perhaps surprisingly) with type 2 diabetes, but in moderation, which means once or twice a week maximum. One way to eat fewer sweets without leaving your sweet dessert is split in half.

Especially beneficial for diabetics are soluble fiber, so you need to get as many as these in your diet as possible. Fortunately, you can find soluble fiber in many foods, including fruits, vegetables and seeds. Soluble fibers are excellent because it helps in delaying and reducing the absorption of glucose from the intestines. Legumes (eg baked beans) have the largest amount of soluble fiber, as well as maintaining levels of blood sugar under control. Insoluble fibers, found in bran, whole grains and nuts, are also part of a healthy diet, as they act as intestinal scrubbers by cleaning the lower digestive tract.

For many people, in touch with a nutritionist is the best way to build a good diabetes diet. Each person is different, so keep in touch with your doctor and nutrition consultant to make your diet plan is best for you. A professional will consider your lifestyle, medication, weight, other medical problems, and their favorite foods to reach a plan that will keep you healthy and satisfy your cravings for specific flavors.

Maintain a healthy diet is one of the best ways you can treat diabetes. Since there are no treatments to get rid of diabetes, when the person is diagnosed with diabetes should start maintaining a healthy diet.

The person must not only take care with the amount of grams of sugar you eat during the day, but also have to eat less carbohydrates. What this means is that the person can not eat many foods containing white flour. There are many products on the market that are made for diabetics. In the U.S. products are called “Sugar Free” or “Sugar Free.” These products have artificial sugar content has no calories but gives the sweet taste to food.

Exercise is another very important thing in the treatment of diabetes. First of all is important because in most cases of diabetes, you should lose some kilos and exercise is very important in this procedure. Exercise also affects insulin levels produced by the body.

In a long term researcher at the University of Toronto in Canada have found that girls with type 1 diabetes more prone to eating disorders. An eating disorder in combination with diabetes is particularly dangerous.

In the Canadian study, 101 girls participated with diabetes who were old when 9 to 13 years. The girls were interviewed over a period of five years in academic interviews to their eating habits. They were also weighed and measured on these dates to determine their Body Mass Index (BMI). At the beginning none of the girls had signs of eating disorders. During the study, however, 45 participants developed a clinically relevant eating disorder.

A lethal combination
The long-term study in Toronto showed that the 45 participants who had developed an eating disorder in the course of the study were already in previous years, mentally striking. Most study participants had suffered one to two years before the start of the eating disorder is already having a depression. During puberty, changing body and mind strong. The normal psychological stress of these changes, subjects experienced as a threat. Weight and shape for these girls were the determining factor in their self-esteem.

The deadly road to dream figure
Since insulin is decried as “fattening hormone” to inject some Type 1 diabetics intentionally too little insulin in order to be able to rapidly decrease. Frequent vomiting, excessive exercise or fasting insulin at the same dose can result in severe hypoglycemia. To counteract the dangerous excesses of disturbed eating behavior in young women and girls, adolescents with diabetes need a loving care and should be encouraged even before puberty, in a self-conscious body awareness. Parents should question the diets or nutritional experiments of their daughters who are not medically necessary, urgent, and if in doubt, seek professional help. Clinically significant eating disorders often arise from a degenerate diet.
