Food and drinks can trigger diabetes. In this life force of law “savings”. What do we do to savings in the future. What we tube will gradually feel the results many years later. So too with the disease.

Starting from a glass of your favorite beverage to enjoy watching TV until late. Who presume that it may increase the risk of diabetes?

1. Sweet tea
The explanation is simple. The high intake of sugar causes blood sugar levels soaring. Yet the risk of excess calories. A glass of sweet tea contains approximately 250-300 calories (depending on the thickness). Caloric needs of adult women the average is 1900 calories per day (depending on activity).

Of course our sweet tea was able to 1000-1200 calories. Currently plus three meals of rice and side dishes. Reasonably suspected that the excess of our daily calories. End: obesity and diabetes.

Succeeded: Water, tea without sugar, or limit consumption of sugar is not more than two teaspoons a day.

2. Fried
Because of the small, one fried not enough for us. And fried is one of the high risk factor triggering degenerative diseases, such as cardiovascular, diabetes mellitus, and stroke. The main causes of cardiovascular disease (PKV) is the blockage of coronary arteries, with one of the main risk factor was dyslipidemia.

Dyslipidemia is a disorder of lipid metabolism characterized by elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglycerides, and decreased levels of HDL (good cholesterol) levels. Increasing the proportion of dyslipidemia in the community due to the habit of eating a variety of foods low in fiber and high in fat, including fried.

Succeeded: Nuts Japan, or fruit pies.

3. Like snacking
We thought that by limiting the afternoon or evening meal may shy away from obesity and diabetes. Because not full, the stomach is filled with a piece or two pieces of biscuits and snacks like potato chips. In fact, biscuits, potato chips, cookies and other sweet containing high carbohydrate content and without adequate food. All the food is classified in foods with high glycemic index. Meanwhile, sugar and flour contained in it have a role in raising blood sugar levels.

Substitute: fresh cut fruit.

4. Lack of sleep.
If the quality of sleep is not obtained, so disturbed metabolism. Research experts from the University of Chicago revealed, lack of sleep for 3 days resulted in the body’s ability to process glucose declined rapidly.

That is, the risk of diabetes increases. Lack of sleep also can stimulate the kind of hormones in the blood that trigger appetite. Driven hunger, sleep disturbances triggered patients to eat high-calorie foods that make blood sugar levels rise.

Solution: Sleep is not less than 6 hours a day, or should be 8 hours a day.

5. Decrease physical activity
World Health Organization (WHO) says diabetes cases in Asian countries will rise by 90 percent within the next 20 years. “In the past 10 years, the number of diabetics in Hanoi, Vietnam, doubled.

Why? In this city, people prefer riding than cycling, “said Dr. Gauden Galea, WHO Advisor for Non Communicable Diseases in the Western Pacific Region.

In conclusion, they are a little physical activity have a higher risk of obesity than those who diligently biking, hiking, or other activities.

Solution: Biking to the office.

6. Often stress
Stress just as a flood, must be channeled to avoid a big flood. When stress comes, the body will increase the production of hormones epinephrine and cortisol blood sugar to rise and there are reserves of energy to move.
Our bodies are designed for good purposes. However, if the blood sugar kept high because of stress triggered prolonged without a way out, might as well commit suicide slowly.

Solution: Talk to people who are considered problematic, or tell me the closest friends.

7. Cigarette addiction
An American study involving 4572 volunteer men and women found that active smokers the risk of diabetes rose by 22 percent. It added that the increase in risk is not just caused by smoking, but the combination of unhealthy lifestyles, such as diet and exercise.
Succeeded: sugar-free candies. A more progressive way is to follow the hypnotherapy. Choose the hypnotherapist who is experienced and certified.

8. Using the contraceptive pill
Most of the contraceptive pill is made from a combination of estrogen and progestin hormones, or progestin alone. Combination pill often causes changes in blood sugar levels. According to dr Dyah Purnamasari S, Sp PD, from the Division of Endocrinology RSCM Metabolic, hormonal contraceptive pill work against the work of insulin. Because insulin work unopposed, the pancreas is forced to work harder to produce insulin. If left too long, the pancreas becomes exhausted and did not function properly.
Solution: Limit the use of hormonal pills, no more than 5 years.

9. Scared black leather
According to the journal Diabetes Care, women with high intake of vitamin D and calcium at low risk of developing diabetes type 2. Apart from food, the best source of vitamin D in sunlight. Twenty minutes exposure to sunlight in the morning is sufficient for vitamin D for three days. Several recent studies, among which was published by the American Journal of Epidemiology, suggests that vitamin D also helps order metabolism of the body, including blood sugar.
Solution: Use a sunscreen cream before the “sun” in the morning sun for 10-15 minutes.

10. Avid soda
From the research conducted by the Nurses’ Health Study II of 51,603 women aged 22-44 years, found that increased consumption of soft drinks to make weight and the risk of diabetes soared. The researchers said the increased risk was due to the existing sweetener content in soft drinks. In addition, liquid calories do not make us full, so motivated to drink more.
Succeeded: cold juice with no sugar .*

It turned out to have the hunger signal levels, ranging from very hungry, hungry, until a little hungry. This all became the benchmark for controlling the excessive appetite. But if we are still difficult to distinguish hunger, do not worry, use the clock as a measure.

Health experts say, usually to an empty stomach 4 hours after the last time we ate. It means, we are permitted to eat food every 4 hours. This method is even safe to apply to the middle of our diet.

If we wait until the stomach was completely empty, we will be more motivated to eat all the food presented in front of the eyes, according to Pauline Dr. Endang, MS, SpGK, head of nutrition agencies Fatmawati RSU. Not only that, when the stomach was completely empty, we become selective in choosing foods.

Research in England also proved, the number of workers who still want to chew unhealthy snacks after lunch, tend to decrease. This compared with the number of workers who are motivated snack in the afternoon. “The eating every 4 hours to maintain stable blood sugar levels, while preventing the desire to eat too much,” said Kate Geagan, RD, a dietitian from the United States.

So from now on, every time hunger strike before the scheduled dinner arrives, prepare a healthy snack. Thus we can hold the hunger until dinner arrived. Select a handful of unsalted nuts and fruit platter.

Two types of food rich in fiber and water so that the stomach remains full with the number of calories that are not much. But remember, do not keep snack made of cheese or dried fruit on the desk drawer or in the bag. Make sure the snacks that we keep in the desk drawer is a kind of solid food.

People with diabetes are always increasing in number from year to year. Countries rarely have reduced the number of diabetes population. But Singapore did it and maybe it was exemplary Indonesia. What’s the secret?

According to experts, Prof. Slamet endrokinolog Surono, MD, people with diabetes in Indonesia increased 8-10 times every 25 year. People with diabetes in Indonesia until the year 2008 was 8.4 million. But in the year 2030, the WHO world health body estimates there are 21.3 million diabetics in Indonesia. Numbers greater than the number of HIV patients and also the entire population of Australia.

WHO also predicted that in the year 2025 Indonesia will become the 5th largest for diabetics after India, China, America and Pakistan. According to MOH data year 2008, the prevalence of diabetes in Indonesia is 5.7 percent, but only 1.5 percent are diagnosed.

North Sulawesi is a province with the largest number of diabetics in Indonesia, especially the city of Manado. “People there’s always a party, so his diet is less controlled and tend to excess,” said Prof. Slamet.

What makes the number of people with diabetes continue to rise? According to Prof. Slamet, lifestyle factors (excessive eating, lack of exercise, stress), derivatives and access to affordable treatment is not the cause of rise in blood sugar levels and lower insulin causes diabetes.

“Anyone can get diabetes, whether old, young, pretty or ugly. For that healthy lifestyles should really be noted. Treatment should also be routine, not as expensive and then quit, “said Slamet.

To overcome the problem of expensive drugs, through programs ‘Innovation for Life’, Sanofi Aventis pharmaceutical company in collaboration with Askes, Jamkesmas, and the doctors trying to provide health care and cheap but quality medicines.

But what does it treat the disease if numbers continue to grow? Therefore, prevention is much more important than treatment. In order to prevent affairs, Indonesia may have to follow the example of Singapore which successfully reduced the rate of diabetes in the country.

“The Singapore government makes regulations that encourage a healthy lifestyle for the community. Example for his military service that fat contract will be extended to 3 months or for children of school hours for lessons plus more sports and play, “said Dr Soewondo Pradana, chairman Perkeni (Endrocinology Indonesian Association).

The point is to make its rules a bit to force people to apply healthy living, since people often forget about the lack of discipline and health care. And because the state of Singapore has proven to do so, too should be able to Indonesia. “Maybe to Indonesia, could be by adding hours to its employees that fat,” said Pradana.

With the program “Obeldicks” there has long been an age-Weightloss program for obese children. First study results when tested with 60 children who were on average 11 years old, showed that the success rate 6 months after study entry was 86%.

Obeldicks to help obese children to reduce their long-term weight and have more fun in motion. Unlike weight loss programs for adults, to be achieved in Obeldicks weight loss by the natural growth of children. So the goal is only once a Gewichtsstabilisation, so that the extra pounds to grow gradually. More than 400 children and young people have now participated in Obeldicks and most managed to maintain their weight long term. “The success rate at the end of the training is 71 percent,” says Dr. Thomas Reinher, the initiator of the project. However, the success is measured primarily by whether the participants can apply the long term at home what they have learned in the training: Three years after the training were currently at least 67 percent of all children maintain their weight.

How does Obeldicks?
In Obeldicks meet children aged 4 to 16 years, 6 months of time on dates once or twice a week in the pediatric ward. Meet girls and boys separately in the same age groups at the clinic for half a year together practicing exercise, eating habits, frustration control and nutrition. The parents and families of participating children can get at parents’ evenings and individual advice and tips to help their children. Moreover, there are also parents meetings where stands of experience with cooking recipes, weighing and sport motivation in the foreground. At the beginning of each Obeldicks-course is a thorough medical examination of the child. This possible diseases to be detected lead to obesity. Sometimes seen in this investigation that the cause of obesity is a psychological problem, such as a trauma from violence or abuse experience. In this case, the child is hospitalized before Obeldicks program on the station of the psychosomatic Child and Adolescent Clinic. Obeldicks also the program itself is designed so that the children only for the duration of the training unit must say a few hours of one to two days per week in the hospital.

How can parents be supported by Obeldicks?
Obesity is a health risk that children may carry around their entire lives. The situation itself is stressful not only for the child but also for the parents who often do not know how they can help their child. Slimming groups such as Weight Watchers or powder diets are not suitable for children and very unhealthy. Therefore, the Children’s Hospital has dates in cooperation with the University of Witten / Herdecke nutrition courses designed specifically for children, providing healthy, varied diet as delicious and easy to learn. When cooking together the children are taught a traffic light system for various foods on which they can follow later. The color red stands for unhealthy, fatty and sugary food, while displaying green foods such as fruits and vegetables. Because dietary changes alone will save only half as many pounds, is the movement therapy is another module of Obeldicks. Here the children a new body awareness and self-confidence is to be conveyed so that they can romp and play again at the feel comfortable in their skin. Moreover, the behavioral training, in which the children should learn that one of frustration and boredom can fight differently than with chocolate.

Having diabetes does not mean you can not eat sweets. Nor does it mean you can not eat sugar, but it is true that sugar intake is very restricted for diabetics because it is the type of carbohydrate that is absorbed faster and more raises the level of glucose in the blood, says voanoticias. com nutritionist Andrea Nebel, a member of the Uruguayan Society of Nutrition in Diabetes.

“It is not banning sugar by a diabetic can save in the case of hypoglycaemia. But it should be handled. Consumer is not free, “says nutritionist.

The same explains the American Diabetes Association: “Doctors used to recommend people with diabetes to avoid sugar. They thought that sugar consumption levels would cause the blood glucose level very fast. We know that all carbohydrates affect blood glucose levels in the blood almost to the same extent. ”

A potato and a brownie containing the same amount of carbohydrates, for example. “They cause roughly the same effect on the level of glucose in the blood. Of course, a potato has more vitamins than a brownie, so it is a better option “, according to the association.

However, for many diabetics are more desirable and easy to use sugar substitutes in foods and beverages. Sweeteners are a safe choice to sweeten foods, but there are several types and some nutritionists recommend some sooner than others.

First, there are reduced-calorie sweeteners: erythritol, hydrogenated starch hydrolysates, isomalt, lactitol, maltitol, mannitol, sorbitol and xylitol are some appointed by the American Diabetes Association.

Then there are the low-calorie sweeteners that are “free foods”, according to the association. “Sweeten foods, do not contribute calories and do not raise levels of blood glucose. Not counted as carbohydrates, fats or any other exchange. ”

Some types of low-calorie sweeteners and their brand names are:

- Acesulfame potassium (Sweet One, Swiss Sweet, Sunett)

- Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal)

- Saccharin (Sweet N Low and Sugar Twin)

- Sucralose (Splenda)

Nutritionist Andrea Nebel said that these sweeteners are approved by international health agencies but she recommends the use of natural sweeteners such as sucralose (Splenda), made from modified sugar cane.

But he warned that a diabetic should be careful when consuming a product that claims to be “diet” or “light” because there may be other components that alter their blood sugar. And that’s the real challenge of the patient.

“As a diabetic you have to find a diet product without added sugar. Some products claim to be ‘light’ because fat has decreased, but not mean they do not contain sugar. ”

What is your recommendation? That diabetics read the product labels. “A patient with diabetes should be taught to know the servings of each ingredient on the packaging. The distribution of sugars and carbohydrates. What is the origin of these sugars have. Under fat and sodium. ”

The key is eating a healthy diet. And the diabetic can not live only for products with low calorie sweeteners. “Some foods or sugar-free products that use low-calorie sweeteners actually have more calories and more fat than the versions that contain sugar,” according to the American Diabetes Association.

As Nebel, the association recommends that the patient “always check the Nutrition Facts label. If you compare the calories of sugar-free version with the normal version, check that it actually consume fewer calories. It is also useful to compare the fat content on labels. ”

And most important: that the diabetic control the daily intake of carbohydrates, including sugars, as part of a healthy eating plan it will give you the vitamins and minerals.

People with diabetes should avoid foods made from raw flour such as bread and noodles during the month of fasting, and should eat when breaking the fast in small amounts but more often.

According to nutrition experts, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Prof. Dr. H. Hardinsyah MS, type of food consumed with diabetes do not differ essentially when fasting or not fasting. It’s just that, eat only small amounts and more often.

Foods made from raw starchy foods should be avoided because this type more quickly converted into glucose (blood sugar).

In contrast, fibrous foods such as vegetables and fruits should be reproduced as fiber foods more slowly converted into glucose. With slow-release, then the blood sugar levels will be more stable.

In many cases, people with certain diseases such as ulcers, hypertension, and diabetes hypercholesterol continue to perform fast and benefit from the fast healing blessings.

In ulcer patients, for example, during fasting, because of reduced feeding, the organ that works out to an enzyme in the stomach for a moment to rest and the opportunity was used to regenerate the organ cells.

However, for people with ulcers should avoid foods made from raw flour, sweet foods and meat that accelerate gastric acid expenses.

When fast heart activity decreased and became about half. About half the blood used for the workings of the brain, muscle and kidney, so the greater the opportunity to rid themselves of the various toxins your body metabolism.

Various factors that cause increased heart rate and blood pressure can be controlled with a good fast, because at the time of fasting will be emotional control, balance rest and eat and drink arrangements.

The results of research on fasting and blood pressure showed that the blood pressure relatively constant in fasted normal value.

For people with hypertension are advised to avoid canned food preservation, food with seasonings or too salty, and reproduce eat vegetables.

Diabetes is a disease that can be controlled perfectly. One of the ways is through a good diet to keep the level of blood glucose under control and assure us a better quality of life.

What we must keep in mind about food for diabetics? First, it must respect the four daily meals and portion control intake. With the main slogan that we should avoid sweets, we present the list of foods in the diet for diabetics.

    * Vegetables. Healthy food, nutritious and low in calories. If you follow an eating plan rich in vegetables, you’ll be consuming less carbohydrates (that raise blood sugar) and saturated fats (which increase insulin resistance). Try eating 4 or 5 servings of vegetables per day.

    * Fruits. As the plants are very healthy, low calorie but provide us with many essential nutrients for health, such as antioxidants. Consumption of 3-4 servings daily.

    * Beans. These high fiber foods will help you feel full longer, thus delaying the digestion. In addition, they prevent the blood sugar rises after meals. This effect was so powerful that it may even lower the amounts of glucose in the blood at a general level.

    * Cereals. They are also carriers of fibers, which are great for eating at breakfast time. They say that those with a good breakfast with fiber and one serving of fruit tend to eat less during the day.

    * Fish. Do not like fish? You’ll have to get used to it, it has very important health properties. It is a great source of protein and omega-3 acid, nutrients that help control diabetes. Eat fish at least two times a week.

    * Ave or poultry chicken breast (skinless) provides us with very few calories and, unlike red meat or hamburgers, which raise bad cholesterol levels and increases insulin resistance, make more effective control blood sugar.

    * Nuts. Did you know that this little food protects our hearts? They are also rich in antioxidants, vitamin E and fat? Good?, Allowing us to regulate glucose in the blood.

    * Olive oil. It has been shown that olive oil is also beneficial for the circulatory system because it reduces the risk of heart attack. It also helps control blood sugar.

    * Yogurt. Yogurt is a source of calcium and protein. In case you did not know, studies show that foods rich in calcium help you lose weight.

You can control the amount of carbohydrates you eat carbohydrate counting practice. This involves keeping track of the total number of grams of carbohydrates you need to eat at meals or snacks, depending on the medication and exercise. Generally, this method involves the use of a book to count carbohydrates, you can buy in a supermarket or bookstore.

People with type 2 diabetes have an increased risk of heart problems, so most doctors make a recommendation to limit fat below 30% of total daily calorie intake – this tends to make eating less fat in general and stay away from saturated fat. You should also pay attention to cholesterol levels by eating smaller amounts of meat, and sticking to lean meats like chicken and fish.

It will take some time to adjust to its new diabetes diet and healthy lifestyle, especially if you have not followed the practices of healthy living in the past, but the results will be worth the effort. Not only will you be able to better manage their diabetes, but also you will become a much healthier person.
